One SEO professional was concerned about Core Web Vitals and whether or not Google would weigh them depending on the website type.
For example, he wondered if the impact of Core Web Vitals would be different on a video game website when compared to a plain text website.
John explained that no, Google does not consider Core Web Vitals on the basis of website type.
It’s more so that if they can take Core Web Vitals into account, then they will.
Occasionally, a search may result in showcasing multiple websites that all have similarly strong Core Web Vitals metrics. This might make it seem like one website type is being favored over another, in terms of ranking using Core Web Vitals, but that’s not really the case.
This happens at approximately the 0:44 mark in the video:

Hi, John. How are you? So nice to see you again. Yeah, I’ve got a question regarding Core Web Vitals. And I would like to know if the weight of the Core Web Vitals or the page experience can depend on the kind of the website you’re looking at. So let’s say you have a website, which is more sensitive to loading time, like online gaming or something in that direction, versus some plain text website? Are there any differences in the weighting of the page experience or core web vitals as a ranking factor?

No, no, not really. So it’s not that we would evaluate the kind of website and say, Oh, speed is more important here. It’s really, like, if we can take it into account, we’ll take it into account. I think the tricky part is in some search results, the competition is quite strong, and everyone is very, like, similarly strong. And then it can look like it has a stronger weight. But it’s not the case that we look at it kind of like by type of website and say, Oh, it’s more important here.
