One SEO professional asked John Mueller about domain redirects they are working on.
They explained that they redirected an old domain to a new domain.
This time, they are creating a backend for the old domain. And when they click, it will redirect to a new domain. After that, their software will audit the old domain as being backwards.
John explained that he believes this would show in Search Console. For example, in Search Console, they would see a sample of the links to your site. And if they redirect through another domain, then John thinks this would still show in Search Console.
Sometimes, he thinks that they will show that in between states like they would have a link through this other website.
The SEO professional asked about some options in Google Search console, and if they could do it for the old domain as well.
John explained that sure, yeah. But, sometimes sites change domains. He does not recommend changing domains regularly.
He thinks that for every domain move that you make, it brings challenges and potential problems.
But, if you need to change your domain name, well, that happens, you know.
This happens at approximately the 06:55 mark in the video.

Now I’m audible? So I have a question related to old domain to like, when we redirect an old domain to a new domain, and this time, like, for the backend, the backend, we are creating for the old domain. They are auditable. Like when we audit? When we click, then it will redirect to a new domain. After that it will audit the old domain backwards, which we created for old domain that will be auditable?

Okay, n the option like Link, but after redirection, is it possible, then we redirect to a new domain? Like, we can do it for the old domain also?
