In a newer twist on old domain name company scams, domain name company Domain Listings LLC has been caught with their pants down – literally.
They sent Hennessey Studios a new invoice disguised as an invoice with recurring services.
To the undiscriminating eye, this just looks like a standard company invoice with its Domain Listings LLC company name highly visible:
It looks like a standard invoice. And, if one were not paying attention, you would just assume that this was a normal bill for your services.
CEO Jason Hennessey almost fell for it. And would have been out $288.00. All due to the scam that Domain Listings LLC is running.
However, luckily, he did not fall for it.
But, others are not so lucky.
This bulletin is to remind those who may be vulnerable to this type of scam to make sure that they are actually paying the invoice they should be.
Domain name companies such as Domain Listings LLC are not the only types of companies that do this. There are others that do this scam as well:
- Hosting companies,
- Graphic Design companies,
- Web Development companies,
- SEO companies
What Can I Do If I Was Scammed by Domain Listings LLC?
The first thing you should do is file a claim with your credit card company or your bank. In most cases, they will be able to return your funds to you.
Even though you might not have been scammed by Domain Listings LLC, most of these procedures should work. Also, some of them can vary depending on which domain name company you are doing with.
Always Stay Vigilant!
This is why it’s always important to stay so vigilant about these types of scams. One day you could get an invoice that looks all-too-real, and pay it, thinking that you paid a real bill.
Sadly, this is an all-too-common occurrence that a scam or two might get through. That’s why they do it: they are hoping for a quick buck without having to put in much work.
But when in doubt, definitely ask a friend. And if you find that you were scammed, the next step should be to call your bank or credit card company.
