Over on Twitter, Glenn Gabe posted a few screenshots showing the results of traffic and rankings for trends from the latest Google broad core update from the end of May, 2022.
He explains that “I’m seeing what looks like a BIG tremor on 6/5 that’s causing some sites to reverse.”
He also said that he is digging into one case right now where the site was increasing nicely and tanked on 6/5.
In addition to that, he mentioned that GSC data shows the drop (even bigger than visibility drops that he’s showing).
More from the May broad core update. I'm seeing what looks like a BIG tremor on 6/5 that's causing some sites to reverse. I'm digging into one case right now where the site was increasing nicely & tanked on 6/5. GSC data shows that drop (even bigger than visibility drops below). pic.twitter.com/aeZA50wxtI

Glenn believes that there may be some gains, however some traffic and rankings also tanked with the 6/5 tremors. He noted that these queries are now gone for many queries that they used to rank for.
Here's a good example of impact from the 6/5 tremor. Site saw a drop with late April volatility (probably smaller core update). Then started to see nice gains w/the May broad core update. Then tanked with the 6/5 tremor. I mean GONE for many queries they used to rank well for. pic.twitter.com/coWfV2Ew84

Glenn also observed that a very sensitive query was impacted heavily rankings-wise. He is wondering if Google implemented a change there and that this could have potentially caused collateral damage.
The site should not have tanked like this overall, in his opinion.
6/5 tremor continued: When digging into the queries where the site dropped, I noticed a very sensitive category was impacted heavily rankings-wise. I wonder if Google implemented a change there & it caused collateral damage. The site should NOT have tanked like that overall IMO. pic.twitter.com/pNtIAPpzOI

Glenn also observed a strange surge for a 3-day period before it reversed (prior to the May core update).
Now, with the 6/5 tremor the site has surged again for many head terms.
I initially shared this site showing a weird surge for a 3-day period before reversing (pre-May core update). Well, now it surged again with the 6/5 tremor, only to reverse the next day. It surged for many head terms (but it probably doesn't care if it ranks at all). 🙂 pic.twitter.com/HJqbyeoCEs
