As of today, July 1, 2021, the July Google core update is rolling out.
Google has announced this on Twitter.
Tools and industry chatter are prevalent, and point to many sites experiencing ranking and traffic fluctuations as a result.
Here is the forum chatter over on WebmasterWorld.com:
Has someone switched off T’Internet today, 1st July?Incredibly dead across all my sites, I actually had to check my server was not down, very little spam and few emails too!
Just going through my logs and the switch for me was flipped about 23.00 UK time Weds night.Anyone else?
More info, 90+% of visitors since 23.00 have been single page views, very unusual and since 06.00 UK time this morning zero USA visitors whatsoever, that is most unlikely at 22.00 West Coast time, nothing for 5 hours?!?!
Thanks for the useful information. I hope you will share some more content. Please keep sharing!
I’m in the UK too. Hardly anything since yesterday afternoon. What’s going on? My sites are still showing in the search terms I expect and the google link seems to work OK. Just no-one seems to be visiting.
My site is dramatically performing down from April of this year. I can not understand what is the reason. As I compared with my competitors’ websites, they have improved these days. However, my website has a cote vital issues, So I thought that could be the reason for the down performing. but as I researched our competitors’ sites, and there have also the same core vital issues. So what’s the main reason of their improvement.
Can anyone guide me here?
I saw something interesting the other day on mobile devices. I searched for something, it did not let me proceed to the second page. The message was something like try again when I tried to load more results. It did not happen again, it might explain a few things.
That’s unfortunate. All the useful stuff is in second page anyway.
What’s next? “Try again” message if you fail to click on ad?
About 13.00 UK time multiple PVs plus US visitorssuddenly return … For how long?
So far low volume keywords positions improved from the spam update. However, high volume keywords did not benefit form it yet. See an example of a high volume keyword google is intentionally removing and re-adding whenever it wants. Even if it is added it is not for the whole day.I am open to suggestions.

I’m seeing improved ranking and all of my pages are yellow or green in CWV, but my USA traffic started the day down 70% again. At 7am it dropped and I have had only ten visits from 7-11am. This is absolutely disastrous for my business.
Here we go. Good luck (which clearly is now a core update ranking factor) to everyone. It’s make or break time for many of us here.
Many of us here who if remain stuck or hit even harder after this will need to seriously consider the option of abandoning our sites and either create new ones or just quit completely.
Edit: I also think this is going to be the last core update of 2021. So if hit again, will definitely not brother maintaining my older sites.
Good Luck and fingers crossed for all of you. I Hope we are not moaning tomorrow and still have a business. On a side note. I never knew Google to carry out two core updates so close together. Maybe they wanted to see what the June one looked like before making sure it was ok to proceed? Let’s hope there is significant changes in spam and older websites getting credit where credit is due.
June core update
CWV update
Spam update Episode 1
Spam update Episode 2
July core updateThe first 4 were net-negative for the Web so this one should also make things worse, purely based on probabilities.Anyway, we need a new thread…
What, no Sept / Oct manipulative Xmas shake about to drive-up G’s ad revenies?
It does NEED it you know 🙂
These kinda aren’t really two standalone unique core updates.
They said in June when they launched the previous update that in July there will be another one. They announced the current core update a month ago. We knew in advance it will happen in July.
They said that certain parts of the core update were not yet completed in June, so they released an incomplete core update and then do another one in July with the new features.
So, technically this is part 2 of the June core update. Normally this would have been one single core update. I would not expect subsequent core updates to be this frequent.
What Can You Do If You Were Impacted by July’s Google Core Update?
If you have been impacted, here are a few tips on recovering from a core update from Kristine Schachinger on Twitter:
What’s Up With Today’s Google Core Update?
While Google has announced today’s core update, they are not yet elaborating on the particulars of it.
This is OK, because we have other resources pointing us towards what is happening in general.
We will continue to keep you updated as this story develops.
