We have a bit of interesting news to report: John Mueller just relaunched his new blog!!
For the past several years since Matt Cutts left Google, John Mueller and Garry Illyes have been the face of Google.
Together, they are Google’s dynamic Webmaster Trends Analysts and Search Advocates.
While there are many public or front-facing employees at Google, John is one of the most well-known.
He has become a figurehead for many webmasters who run into issues with their sites.
One of the amazing things we love about John is his consistency and availability to webmasters around the world.
He contributes heavily to the Google Search Central YouTube channel with his own webmaster hangouts where he consistently provides answers to questions from webmasters all around the world.
He relaunched his site over the weekend on the domain name johnmu.com, and so far we love it!!

Our SEO Insights
We think that John’s choice to go with a static site generator is an interesting choice. We don’t see too many static sites anymore.
With the advent of WordPress and other dynamic CMSes, it’s almost impossible to find static website configurations nowadays. Static site generators are more “normal”, if you want to call it that.
Non-generated static sites are an older technology. While we think normal non-generated static sites will always have their place, they are not for everyone because technical abilities will be required to maintain the site.
For people who are most likely not going to have a blog, and don’t plan on keeping the site updated all that often, non-generated static sites are a great option.
It’s still possible to keep a static site updated. Just don’t count on it to be viable as a blog (although there are methods to creating blogs from static site themes as well).
Because of the difficulty in updating static sites, WordPress has become the standard.
Anyway, we love what John has done with his site and we look forward to more and more updates.
