Earlier today, Gary Illyes over at Google tweeted a rather interesting redirect pattern he was allegedly working on at the time. Looks like some good old fashioned regular expression (i.e. regex) coding:
As if on cue, all the SEOs begin wondering what that tweet could mean.
John Mueller followed up with his own eyebrow-raising comments, in true Mueller fashion:
Exactly how much of the Google algorithm’s behavior is there “just to mess with us?”
The answer remains to be seen, and it could simply be Mueller’s sense of humor.
