We are all really gutted here at iloveseo.com to hear this news, to say the least. Bill Slawski, someone who has been a staple of the SEO industry for two decades, passed away on Tuesday, May 17th, 2022.
Personally, I’ve known Bill for many years, starting from when I first got into the industry a few decades ago.
He is somebody that I would be happy to crown as the industry’s leading expert on SEO patents and how search engines work, and he understood far more about developing websites that work for search engines as well as users.
Bill was somebody who took everything he knew and shared it with the SEO community. He earned the title of community mentor many thousands of times over.
He was somebody who was never afraid to push back if someone else was pushing false information.
From writing on Google patents, to helping people everywhere at conferences, and on social media, he was an invaluable part of the industry from beginning to end.
He was literally the one person who you could ask about any SEO topic, if you needed to get correct information.
Bill has also shared stories from iloveseo.com a few times.
Bill–You will be terribly missed by everybody and you have no idea how much of an impact you had on our industry. From everything you have shared, the patents you have dissected, and everybody you helped selflessly, you have no idea how much we have all benefited from your knowledge and expertise.
You have no idea how much we will all miss you. May you rest in peace.

Known Bill so long I cannot even tell you how we met, but he was part of what made SEO, SEO. Like a brother to many, a mentor to others, always a friend — he will be deeply & terribly missed.
Can't imagine SEO without Bill

Foundations.
We build our most successful structures when they have the strongest foundations. I remember when i started SEO, working to understand the patents that lie at the root of Google's processes. Bill was always digging deeper, publishing his insights and sharing 1/

I just can’t believe it, he isn’t anymore with us. I still remember reading in-depth articles of Google’s any new patent and how it will impact to SEO industry.
He was too young to die 😭, we lost pillar of SEO community 💔
I so much wanted to meet him 😭😭
