Today’s question is: What is the difference between SEO and SEM?
All right, SEO stands for search engine optimization, this method of advertising targets the organic free search results that you see on Google, and you don’t have to pay anything for them.
And it is a separate algorithm that govern these results when compared to the other one.
So SEM or search engine marketing usually refers to paid ads or PPC (pay per click), and pay per click refers to the paid results on Google, which is also governed by an entirely separate algorithm.
And these are two very different specializations in SEO.
And with PPC, the biggest difference is you are bidding on certain keywords to show up for within the PPC results on Google. So that is the major difference between the two.
That’s it for today’s Ask an SEO Episode 11.
